Does microneedling hurt?
A topical numbing cream is used beforehand to keep it comfortable.
How many sessions will I actually need?
Most plans run 3 to 6 sessions, spaced about 4 weeks apart. The 3-session package covers the minimum recommended course.
Is there downtime?
Skin typically looks flushed for a day or so afterward, similar to a mild sunburn.
Are there reasons I might not be able to get microneedling?
Yes. You shouldn't book if you've used Accutane in the last year, have active acne or any open wounds in the treatment area, had radiation treatment to your skin in the last year, have a current skin infection, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of keloid scarring or poor wound healing, or are allergic to numbing agents like lidocaine. What side effects should I actually expect, beyond just redness?
Some temporary bruising and discomfort during the session are normal, along with swelling, itching, or burning afterward, and sometimes a temporary lightening or darkening of the treated skin. Any of that is usually gone within about 3 days. Full healing time depends on how deep the treatment went and your own skin, but some people are back to normal within 24 hours.
